Abstract

The increasing number of Indonesians who experience mental emotional disorders, mostly starting from the age of 15 years and above, is characterised by symptoms of depression and anxiety. The application of the Healing Architecture concept to the design of The Serenity Spot Youth Facilities in Bandung aims to create an Environment that supports the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of its users. The project supports the need for a public space that not only functions as a gathering place, but also as a space for recovery and relaxation for teenagers in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. The design approach integrates natural elements such as natural lighting, good ventilation, and open green spaces to enhance social interaction and connection with nature. This research method uses qualitative with a descriptive approach. This descriptive qualitative method is carried out to gain an in-depth understanding of this design. The results of this research show that the concept of Healing Architecture in the design of Youth Facilities supports the mental health of visitors through its design, through the application of natural materials, open spaces, and others. In addition, the layout of this building is also designed to provide flexibility of space to make it easier for users to access the facilities in this building. The building also integrates evidence-based design principles, which emphasise the importance of an Environment that supports the Healing process through facilities such as open spaces for recreation, inclusive community spaces, and aesthetic elements that also provide ‘healing’. Through this approach, the Youth Facilities design is expected to be a building that is not only functional but also contributes to improving the quality of life of its users.
